A study offer is not a complete Canada preparation plan

Check school arrangements, immigration requirements and daily-life planning separately.

General information only, not immigration or legal advice. Reading an article does not create a client relationship. Requirements and policies can change; check the official sources before acting. Eligibility and outcomes depend on individual circumstances and decisions by the relevant authorities. No visa, permit, nomination, admission or permanent residence outcome is guaranteed.

Read what the offer actually says

Identify the course, start date, conditions and any steps needed to accept the offer. Confirm the institution’s instructions through its own channels. Admission to a school is distinct from permission to enter or study in Canada, and should not be presented as a promise of a study permit.

Coordinate dates carefully

Ask the school about registration, deferral and refund arrangements if your plans change. Immigration processing and school deadlines may not align. Avoid assuming that an application will be decided before a course starts, and do not rely on informal advice about attending or working without the required authorization.

Prepare for arrival beyond the classroom

Research accommodation, transport and the institution’s health insurance arrangements. Review the official student arrival guidance and keep relevant documents accessible. If your program or personal circumstances change, verify whether that affects your immigration plans before acting. The appropriate next step depends on your specific situation.

Preparation checklist

  • Read all conditions attached to the offer.
  • Ask about deferral and refund terms.
  • Check student arrival and authorization requirements.
